Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) was founded in 1954 by a high school basketball coach named Don McClanen. Not only did he recognize the influence athletes and coaches have on society, he recognized the potential influence of Christian coaches and athletes who were not ashamed of their faith, and desired to use the platform and influence of their testimonies to be positive role models and share God's love and truth with others. With that he created FCA, 501(c) (3) non-profit interdenominational organization promoting positive principles to sports-minded individuals around the globe. FCA is the largest sports ministry in the world and is made up of over 1,700 staff across the United States and internationally.

FCA Lacrosse Ministry was officially established in the summer of 1989 with a lacrosse camp at Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, PA, followed by its first outreach breakfast at the US Lacrosse Coaches Convention that December. The first FCA Lacrosse Team competed in the Vail Lacrosse Shoot-Out in July, 1992.  With the first sports specific FCA Lacrosse Staff person hired in 1999. The ministry has since grown to over 6,000 members and has developed the 4C's of the FCA Ministry (Coaches, Camps, Campus, Community) to have a significant impact upon the lacrosse community.

In the fall of 2014, a collection of lacrosse players and families in West Cobb County, GA came together with the desire to provide this same lacrosse experience. Previously known as FCA West GA Lacrosse, one U15 boys team lead by volunteers has since developed into an official FCA Lacrosse chapter for the state of Georgia. In the fall of 2018, FCA Georgia Lacrosse was established based out of Atlanta, GA now providing both girls and boys youth lacrosse club teams and serving the Georgia lacrosse community in a multitude of facets. FCA Georgia Lacrosse draws players from the surrounding areas and counties of Atlanta, GA including bordering states, Alabama and South Carolina.

The program is closely affiliated with FCA Lacrosse National program, in Baltimore, MD as they are led by a former player and staff member of FCA Lacrosse National staff. FCA Lacrosse has a positive reputation on the national scale and FCA Georgia Lacrosse serves as an extension of the national impact FCA Lacrosse can have on the lacrosse community. Ultimately “To see the lacrosse world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes.”

FCA is committed to developing “three-dimensional” coaches and athletes who want to fulfill their potential physically (1st dimension), mentally (2nd dimension) and spiritually (3rd dimension). With the mission to lead highly dedicated lacrosse players in high level competition and into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church, and develop Christ-centered leaders in the lacrosse community who maximize their God-given purpose and potential.
